study of Russian language, literature, and culture, together with history
and comparative literature, offers new and challenging perspectives on
an area of the world that has long fascinated foreigners and continues
to be a
significant participant in the world community.
The Major
A major in Russian studies consists of at least three courses in Russian
language (beyond the beginning level), two in culture, four in literature
and history, and three in
Independent Study.
Students often double major in Russian studies and a second field like
history, English, or political science. The department also offers a minor
consisting of six courses. |
