Research interests include the tectonic evolution of the Sevier and Laramide orogenies of the western U.S., as well as participation in several ocean drilling programs.

Interests
include mid-ocean ridges, igneous geochemistry/petrology/mineralogy,
solid earth processes, geoscience education. Recently published
an article on the composition of lavas exposed along the Western
Blanco Transform Fault in Geochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems.

Primary research interests are glacial geology,
climate change and tree-ring analysis. Recently published an article
on North Pacific Glacier Changes in Geophysical Research Letters.

Studies the evolution and paleoecology of encrusting
and bioeroding
invertebrates, as well as the origin and diagenesis of carbonate
rocks (especially hardgrounds), calcite sea dynamics, and Pleistocene sealevel change. Recently published
an article on a Devonian predator/prey system in Geology.
