Independent Study
» Comparative
Literature Department I.S. Titles
Students often select comparative literature because they wish to work
beyond the boundaries of a single national literature, or combine their
interest in literature with advanced study in one or more foreign languages.
Independent Study is a culmination, the point at which students draw on
the comparative and theoretical insights achieved in coursework and their
own reading to design an original research project that will demonstrate
an understanding of the cross-cultural connections within a set of selected
texts. Some representative examples include: Gantenbein Goes to the
Movies: Intertextuality in Films of Nicholas Ray, Samuel Fuller, and Jean-Luc
Godard and Little Red Riding Hood Revisited: Contemporary Revisions
of
Perrault and the Brothers Grimm. |
