The Major
The Major - Anthropology
Following the introductory course in anthropology, students continue
with a course in physical anthropology, linguistics, or Introduction to
Archaeology. In addition, students take courses in introductory sociology,
contemporary anthropological theory, research methods, plus a course exploring
the peoples and cultures of places including Japan, Latin America or North
America. Majors then choose from a variety of electives, which may also
include two Sociology courses. Students are also encouraged to take advanced
courses in either statistics or ethnography.
The Major - Sociology
Following the introductory course in Sociology, students continue with
a course in representing diverse populations, including either Sociology
of Gender, Inequality in America, Sociology of the Black Experience, or
Racial and Ethnic Groups in America. In addition, students take courses
in introductory Anthropology, classical and contemporary Sociological
theory, and research methods. Majors then choose from a variety of electives,
which may also include two Anthropology courses. Students are also encouraged
to take advanced courses in either statistics or ethnography. |
